Hollywood Stars and Golf Legends Share Riviera’s Golf Course

Accomplished business executive Noboru Watanabe serves as president of Riviera Corporation, a multinational lifestyle company he founded in 1993. As the owner of Riviera Corporation, Noboru Watanabe oversees the business operations at several luxury properties, including the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.

A fixture of the Los Angeles community since the mid-1920s, the Riviera Country Club features one of the most iconic golf courses in the United States. Designed by legendary golf architect George C. Thomas Jr., Riviera’s 18-hole golf course was completed in 1926 and quickly became a favored golf venue among both professional players and Hollywood celebrities.

Over the years, Riviera has hosted the U.S. Open, PGA Championship, and the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open, which is now held at the club every year. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Phil Mickelson, and many other golf legends have won events at Riviera, and Tiger Woods made his PGA Tour debut there in 1992. In addition to its perennial event, the Northern Trust Open, Riviera will be the host of the U.S. Amateur in 2017.
